    Acrylic, acrylic gouache and charcoal on paper 22" x 15" with thanks to three brave souls - Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell and Roger Hilton Franz Kline was not always an abstract expressionist. He took to abstract painting quite late in his career. But many viewers still read figural references into them, as indeed he did himself: " There are forms that are figurative to me and if they develop into a figurative image... it's alright if they do. I don't have the feeling that something has to be completely non-associative as far as figural form is concerned".
