    When confronted with a blank canvas or a blank piece of paper, many artists have felt frozen - in both time and space. Being present at the starting point of an artwork can mean facing a chasm of emptiness and that blankness can represent all of history stretched out before you, and any mark or gesture you make can seem like a mere scratch on the wall of eternity.
