About me

I am a Spaniard living and drawing in the U.S. since 1998. After bouncing from coast to coast following opportunities in the newspaper business -I'm currently a news artist at The Seattle Times- I settled with my wife and two kids in Mill Creek, Washington, in 2006.
My first memory of sketching in the street is from 1986, when I was 16. I drew the ruins of an old castle in my family's hometown of Montemolín in Spain.
These days, when I'm not at the newspaper job or spending time with my family, I'm most likely to be drawing something, even when I'm stopped at a traffic light.
I sketch on location directly in ink with Pigma Micron pens and usually color later with gouache. If I have enough time, I also color on the spot using a Niji waterbrush. I use moleskine sketchbooks.
Most of my drawings are snapshots of urban life. I draw during my commute to work. I draw people on the street, buildings, construction. I post them to the blog every weekday and you can also see them on my Flickr pool .
